Privacy Policy
- Your photos go only from your phone to your own paired Wear OS watch. They are never uploaded to any CronoPhotos server — there isn't one.
- No account, no sign-in, no analytics of our own.
- The phone app shows a banner ad served by Google AdMob. AdMob processes some device data (such as the advertising ID). In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, personalised ads are shown only if you consent, and you can change your choice at any time.
- The watch app shows no ads and does not use the internet.
1. Who we are
CronoPhotos (package it.crono.photos) is developed by Mr.Paroli, who is the data controller for this app. You can reach the developer at the contact email shown on the CronoPhotos page on Google Play.
2. What the app does with your photos
CronoPhotos is made of a phone app and a companion app for your Wear OS watch.
- Reading photos. With your permission, the phone app reads the photos you choose: either all your photos and folders (
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES), only the photos you select (system photo picker / selected-photos access), or a folder you link. Nothing is read in the background without your action. - Optimising on the phone. Each photo is resized and converted to WebP on your phone so it fits the watch. The original files on your phone are never modified or deleted.
- Metadata. The copy keeps the photo's metadata (for example date taken, camera model and, if the photo contains it, the location where it was taken). To read the location embedded in photos the app uses
ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION. This metadata stays inside the copy on your watch. - Transfer. Photos travel from the phone to your paired watch through Google Play services (the Wearable Data Layer), over an encrypted Bluetooth or Wi‑Fi connection. When the devices are not directly connected, Google Play services may relay the data through Google's servers in encrypted form; the developer has no access to it.
- On the watch. The watch stores only the downscaled copies, the album list and your preferences. If you lock albums, the unlock sequence is stored only as a salted cryptographic hash on the watch — never in plain text and never on the phone. Watch data is excluded from device backups.
The developer never receives, sees or stores your photos, albums, metadata or unlock sequence.
3. Advertising (phone app only)
To keep CronoPhotos free, the phone app shows a banner at the bottom of the screen, provided by Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) from Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC. The banner is the only reason the phone app uses the internet.
To serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- device identifiers such as the Android advertising ID and the app set ID, and Android Privacy Sandbox signals where available;
- the IP address (which may be used to estimate your general location, such as country or city);
- device and app information (model, operating system, language, app version) and diagnostic or performance data of the ads;
- interactions with ads (views, clicks).
Google acts as an independent controller of this data. CronoPhotos never shares your photos or their metadata with Google AdMob. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and in the Google Privacy Policy.
Your consent and choices
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent message (a Google-certified consent management platform) before personalised ads are requested. Ads may be shown on the basis of your consent; if you refuse, Google may serve non-personalised or limited ads.
- You can change your choice at any time in the app: Settings → Ad privacy choices.
- On any Android device you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the system settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads or Google → Ads).
4. Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
Photos — all or selected (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE up to Android 12) | Read the photos you choose to copy to the watch. |
Location in photos (ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION) | Keep the location stored inside the photo's metadata. The app never accesses your device's current location. |
| Internet and network state | Phone app only: load the ad banner and the consent message. |
Advertising ID (AD_ID) and Android Ad Services | Phone app only: used by Google AdMob as described in section 3. |
| Background work (foreground service, wake lock) | Let long transfers finish reliably while the screen is off. |
5. Legal bases (GDPR)
- Processing of your photos happens only on your own devices, to provide the feature you ask for (performance of the service).
- Storing or accessing information on your device for advertising and personalised ads: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Non-personalised ads, ad measurement and fraud prevention: the legitimate interest in funding a free app, within the limits set by Google's consent framework.
6. Retention and deletion
Photos and albums stay on your watch until you delete them from the app (single photos on the watch, whole albums from the phone app). Uninstalling CronoPhotos from the watch deletes all its data there. Uninstalling the phone app deletes its settings. Data processed by Google AdMob is kept according to Google's own policies.
7. Children
CronoPhotos is not directed at children and is not designed for users under the age of digital consent in their country (14 in Italy).
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. Since the developer does not hold your data, most requests are best addressed directly to Google for advertising data, or handled by deleting the data from your devices. You can contact the developer as described in section 1 and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Italy: the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
9. Changes
This policy may be updated when the app changes. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version; significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
- Nessun account, nessun login, nessuna analitica nostra.
- identificatori del dispositivo come l'ID pubblicità Android e l'app set ID, e i segnali di Android Privacy Sandbox ove disponibili;
- l'indirizzo IP (che può servire a stimare la posizione generica, ad esempio paese o città);
- informazioni su dispositivo e app (modello, sistema operativo, lingua, versione dell'app) e dati diagnostici o di prestazione degli annunci;
- Su qualsiasi dispositivo Android puoi reimpostare o eliminare l'ID pubblicità dalle impostazioni di sistema (Impostazioni → Privacy → Annunci oppure Google → Annunci).
4. Permessi
| Permesso | Perché |
|---|---|
Foto — tutte o selezionate (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE fino ad Android 12) | Leggere le foto che scegli di copiare sull'orologio. |
| Lavoro in background (servizio in primo piano, wake lock) | Portare a termine i trasferimenti lunghi anche a schermo spento. |
5. Basi giuridiche (GDPR)
8. I tuoi diritti
